The constant buzzing sound that can be heard is produced by the rapid beating of the wings of the fly. Flies have naturally developed wide-angle vision due to the presence of four thousand lenses in each of their huge insect eyes. Although houseflies may not bite or sting, their relatives, such as horse flies and black flies, can leave painful stings that are comparable to those left by wasps and bees.
