What the ranking checker shows
For every country you pick, you see your app's position in four charts:
| Chart | What it ranks |
|---|---|
| Top free (or top paid) · All apps | The most downloaded free (or paid) apps in the store right now |
| Top free (or top paid) · Your category | The same, only apps in your category, e.g. Education or Puzzle games |
| Top grossing · All apps | The apps earning the most from purchases and subscriptions |
| Top grossing · Your category | Top earners in your category |
Google Play charts go to position 200 and App Store charts to position 100, as far as each store publishes them.
Why check several countries?
Charts are per country, and an app that is invisible in the United States can be in the top 10 of its category in Turkey or Brazil. Seeing where you already rank tells you which markets to localise your listing for, where to spend on ads, and where a feature on the store is most likely.
How to climb the charts
- Charts reward recent downloads: launches, updates, press and ads all give a short boost that can push you into the chart, where more people see you.
- A localised listing (title, screenshots, description) converts much better in each country.
- Ratings and retention matter: apps that people keep and rate well hold their positions longer.
Also check your keyword rankings
Charts are only one way people find apps; most come from search. See your position for the keywords that matter with the keyword rank checker.
