What the stores index for search
- App Store: the app name, the subtitle and the keyword field. The description and the promotional text aren’t searched, so write them for people.
- Google Play: the title, the short description and the full description. Cover your main features and the phrases people search for, without repeating one word over and over.
Tips that save characters
- Put the strongest keyword in the name, in a form people can read: “Habitly: Habit Tracker”.
- On the App Store, don’t repeat a word across the name, subtitle and keyword field: each word counts once.
- In the keyword field, separate with commas and no spaces, and skip “app”, your category name and plurals of words you already have.
- On Google Play, keep rankings, prices and calls to action (“best”, “#1”, “free”, “download now”), emoji and all caps out of the title.
