Even if you are fortunate (or unlucky!) enough to see a bear in the wild, at a wildlife refuge, or in a zoo, it is extremely unlikely that you will hear a bear making any sort of sound due to the fact that bears are typically very quiet animals. Because bears don't make sounds very often, the sounds in this app are very unique and a great way to learn.

Bears of all varieties, including grizzly bears, black bears, brown bears, and even polar bears, are capable of making a wide range of sounds. Groans, tongue clicks, moans, and huffs are some examples of these sounds (made by expelling air loudly). It's not very often that you hear terrifying roars like those in the movies. The more subtle sounds that a bear makes, such as clicking its tongue and grunting, are typically used to communicate in a friendly manner with its cubs or with other bears. On the other hand, huffing could be a sign of fear, and a bear will usually only moan or bellow loudly when it is angry, like when it is fighting another bear or trying to protect its cubs.
