The Lausiac History details the lives of the Desert Fathers (the early Christian monks who lived in the Egyptian desert). It was written in 419-420 by Palladius, at the request of Lausus, chamberlain of the Byzantine Emperor Theodosius II. Among the many lives included are St. Anthony the Great, Paul the Simple, Macarius of Alexandria, Macarius of Egypt, Pachomius, Isidora the Fool for Christ, Melania the Younger, Pambo, and Serapion.
