The Story of Joan of Arc: Andrew Lang (audiobook)
Joan of Arc is a legend of France and a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. From divine guidance, she led the French army to important victories during the Hundred Years' War, which established Charles VII as King of France. Captured by the English, she was put on trial for charges of "insubordination and heterodoxy," being burned at the stake when she was 19 years old. Twenty-five years after her death, an inquisitorial court pronounced her innocent, and declared her a martyr. Joan of Arc was canonized in 1920. She is one of the patron saints of France.
