The Book of Jeremiah, is one of the major prophetical writings of the Old Testament. Jeremiah, was a Judaean prophet whose activity spanned four of the most tumultuous decades in his country’s history. He appears to have received his call to be a prophet in the 13th year of the reign of King Josiah (627/626 BC) and continued his ministry until after the siege and capture of Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 586 BC.

Lamentations is partly a "city lament" mourning the desertion of the city by God and its destruction, and partly a funeral dirge in which the bereaved bewails and addresses the dead.

Ezekiel gives a set of visions, which are structured around three themes: (1) Judgment on Israel (2) Judgment on the nations and (3) Future blessings for Israel.

Daniel's first chapters contain stories in the third person about the experiences of Daniel and his friends under Kings Nebuchadrezzar II, Belshazzar, Darius I, and Cyrus II. The second half is written mostly in the first person and contains reports of Daniel’s three visions (and one dream).
