Trugbook: Vegetable Garden Log

Trugbook is a notebook for a vegetable garden that you fill in yourself: what you sowed and planted in each bed, what you harvested and when, and what you saw along the way. Season after season, it answers two questions: what is in the ground, and what came out of it.

★ BEDS AND PLANTINGS
Start with your beds: raised beds, a greenhouse, an allotment plot, pots by the door. A planting is a crop in a bed, in your own words, with the day it was sown or planted out.
- Sown indoors, sown direct or bought as plants, with the day it came up, was planted out and finished
- Sow again in two taps: the same crop, filled in the same way, starting today
- Your own days to harvest from the seed packet, counted from the day it went into the ground
- Crops are yours to name: Trugbook has no crop list and never corrects what you wrote

★ A HARVEST LOG BY WEIGHT OR BY COUNT
Log what came out in kilograms and grams or in pounds and ounces, by count in your own words (14 courgettes, 6 heads), or both.
- Totals per planting, per crop, per bed and per season, every weight added exactly
- Switch between kilograms and pounds at any time: nothing you saved is converted or rounded away
- Each season's report sets every crop beside the same crop's harvest the season before

★ CROP ROTATION IN PLAIN WORDS
Each bed shows what grew in it, season by season and plant family by plant family. When a new planting goes into a bed where the same family grew lately, the form says so, for example: Nightshades grew in this bed in 2025. It never stops you saving: it is your garden.

★ A SEASON DIARY WITH PHOTOS
Write what you saw or did, about the whole garden, a bed or a planting, with a photo from your phone if you like. The garden diary reads newest first and filters by bed or by planting.

★ SEASONS, FILES AND BACKUP
A season starts in January or in any month you choose, so a southern garden can count from July.
- Export your harvests and plantings as CSV files that a spreadsheet reads in any language
- Save a backup of the whole garden with its photos, and restore it on a new phone

★ YOUR GARDEN STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Your beds, plantings, harvests, diary and photos stay on your phone. They leave it only if you save a backup or a CSV file where you choose.
- It works with no connection and no account, and it needs the internet only for ads
- It never asks you for a permission: not your location, your camera or your photos
- Android's cloud backup is off for Trugbook, so a new phone starts empty unless you restore a backup you saved
- Trugbook gives no growing advice: every crop, date and number in it is yours.
- Trugbook is a notebook of a vegetable garden, not a watering schedule or a houseplant app, and it sends no reminders.

★ ADS
Ads come from Google's ads software, which receives your phone's advertising ID, an approximate location from its internet address and how ads are seen. Trugbook never gives it a bed, a crop, a harvest, a diary entry or a photo. An ad only ever comes after you save a new harvest or diary entry, never while you type. A video in Settings turns ads off for a day, and nothing in the app is behind it.
