Minefold: No-Guess Mines

Minefold is a mine puzzle game - a logic puzzle - in which every board can be cleared by logic alone, from its start. Each number counts the mines touching its cell; flag the mines and open everything else. If you know the classic grid of numbers and hidden mines - the genre often called minesweeper - this is that game with the guessing taken out: never a coin toss.

★ NO GUESS, AND PROVED
Before it shipped, each of the 1,600 boards was cleared by a solver that reads a board the way a careful player does: one number at a time, then two neighbouring numbers read together, then the count of mines left. A board that needed a guess anywhere was refused, not shipped. The same check runs again on every build.

★ THREE SIZES, MEASURED DIFFICULTY
9 × 9 with 10 mines, 16 × 16 with 40 and 16 × 30 with 99 - the classic expert board, turned upright to fit your phone. Easy, Medium and Hard are measured by what the logic needs: Easy follows from one number at a time, Medium needs two numbers read together now and then, Hard needs that again and again, or the count of mines left. Every board needs its level: a Hard here never falls to the logic of a Medium. 200 boards at each of the eight levels.

★ THE START IS OPEN
Every board arrives with its start already open, so your first move is a deduction, not a gamble.

★ OPEN, FLAG, LONG PRESS
Choose Open or Flag, then tap. A long press always flags. Tap a number whose flags are all placed to open the cells around it. Undo takes back your last move. Pinch or use the zoom buttons to make a large board's cells bigger.

★ WHAT A MINE COSTS
A mine stops the board. You can take that move back once each time you play a board, and play any board again from its start, as often as you like. No lives, no energy, nothing to buy.

★ HINTS THAT SAY WHY
A hint works out the next cell from what is right on your board - never from a wrong flag - and says which number to read and why. Your free hints are topped up to three every day. Run out, and a short video adds three more, only if you choose to. No board ever needs a hint.

★ A DAILY BOARD
The same board for everyone on the same date, with no server. Monday is a 16 × 16 Easy, the week gets harder by Wednesday, and the weekend brings the 16 × 30. Clear it on its own day to keep your streak going.

★ YOUR GAME IS KEPT
Leave a board half done and it waits exactly as you left it: every flag, your undo history and your time. The timer stops whenever the board is not on screen. Every level holds its own unfinished board, and the daily one more.

★ STATISTICS
Won, best time and average time for every size and level, and your daily streak. Only a board cleared without a hint, and without the Undo for a mine, can set a best time.

★ OFFLINE, AND NOTHING TO SIGN IN TO
Every board is inside the app, and your games and statistics stay on this phone. Only the ads use the internet. Android's cloud backup is off for this app, so a new phone starts with Minefold at its defaults.

★ MADE TO BE READ
TalkBack reads every cell by its row and column, and says what each tap did and why each hint is right. Every number is its digit, never a colour alone. Light and dark themes, and your wallpaper's colours if you like.

Ads: one full-screen ad now and then, after you clear a 16 × 16 or a 16 × 30 board and leave it - never while you are playing, never after a mine, and never over the board. No banners.
