Linocut: Nonogram Puzzles

Linocut is nonogram puzzles that work offline: picture logic puzzles in which the numbers say which cells to fill. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be finished one line at a time by logic alone, with no guessing. Fill the right cells and a picture appears.

★ HOW A NONOGRAM WORKS
The numbers beside each row and above each column are the runs of filled cells in that line, in order, with a gap between one run and the next. Work out which cells must be filled and which must stay empty, and the picture comes out of the grid.

★ PICTURES, THEN PATTERNS
110 hand-drawn pictures, from a teapot to a lighthouse, each with a plain title, and 1,210 patterns: symmetric designs, labelled as patterns, never passed off as pictures. 1,320 puzzles in all, in three sizes: 5 × 5 to learn, then 10 × 10 and 15 × 15. Each size deals its pictures before its patterns.

★ DIFFICULTY THAT IS MEASURED
Easy, Medium and Hard are measured by a solver that reads one line at a time, the way you do. Easy falls to counting from both ends of each line. Medium needs the same counting, kept up for longer. Hard has a line you must check in every way its runs can fit. Every puzzle needs its level: a Hard here never falls to counting alone.

★ FILL, CROSS AND DRAG
Choose Fill or Cross, then tap a cell or drag along a row or a column. Undo and Redo go back through everything you did. A number whose run is in place is dimmed and struck through. Pinch, or use the zoom buttons, to make the cells of a large grid bigger. Mistakes are shown only if you turn that on, and there is no mistake limit and no game over.

★ HINTS THAT SAY WHY
A hint shows the next cell that can be worked out from the cells you have right, and says which row or column to look at and why. Three free hints come back each day. If you run out, you can watch a short video for three more, only if you choose to. No puzzle ever needs a hint.

★ A DAILY PUZZLE
The same puzzle for everyone on the same date, worked out on your phone with no server. Monday is a 10 × 10 Easy, and the week gets harder towards Saturday's 15 × 15 Hard. Finish it on its own day to keep your streak going.

★ YOUR GAME IS KEPT
Leave a puzzle half done and it waits exactly as you left it: every mark, your undo history and your time. The timer stops whenever the puzzle is not on screen. Each level keeps its own game in progress, and the daily keeps one more.

★ STATISTICS AND A GALLERY
Solved, best time and average time for every size and level, your daily streak, and the pictures you have found, with their titles. Only a puzzle finished without a hint can set a best time.

★ OFFLINE, AND NOTHING TO SIGN IN TO
Every puzzle is inside the app, and your games and statistics stay on this phone. The internet is used only for ads. Android's cloud backup is off for this app, so a new phone starts with Linocut at its defaults.

★ MADE TO BE READ
TalkBack reads every cell by its row and column and every line's numbers, and says what each tap did and why each hint is right. Light and dark themes, with your wallpaper's colours if you want them.

Ads: one full-screen ad now and then, after you finish a 10 × 10 or a 15 × 15 puzzle and leave it - never while you are playing, never when you leave a puzzle unfinished, and never over the grid. No banners.
