Pourbook: Coffee Brew Journal

Pourbook is a coffee journal for the coffee you make at home: the beans you bring home, every brew you make with them and the recipes worth repeating - so you can make the good cup again. Everything stays on your phone, with no account.

★ A brew log that starts where you left off
Log a brew in a few taps: the coffee, the method, your own brewer and grinder, dose, water, grind, temperature, brew time, a rating from 1 to 5, tasting notes and Make it again. A new brew starts from your last brew of the same coffee, each value it carries marked As before. The ratio is worked out for you: 15 g to 250 g reads 1:16.7.

★ A brew timer on the brew form
Start, brew, Stop - and the time goes into the brew. It keeps running if you turn the phone or switch apps, and it needs no notification and no permission.

★ Your coffees, with a photo of the bag
Roaster, origin, process, roast level, roast date, bag weight, what you paid, a note and a photo of the label. Pourbook shows how long ago a coffee was roasted - Roasted 12 days ago - and leaves the judging to you. A finished coffee keeps its brews.
Pourbook has no camera of its own - take the photo with your phone's camera, then pick it.

★ Recipes worth repeating
Save a brew you liked as a recipe, or write one with up to ten pours. Brew from a recipe and the brew form fills itself.

★ A coffee ratio calculator
Any two of coffee, water and ratio give the third, rounded half up to one decimal place. Water can be typed in cups of 250 g.

★ The numbers, and only the numbers
For every coffee: its average rating, its best brew, about how much is left in the bag and its cost per cup. Across the journal: your brews this month by method, the coffees rated best and the recipes most made. These are your own numbers, to read as you like.

★ Find any brew
Filter the log by coffee, method, rating and Make it again, and search names, roasters, origins and tasting notes.

★ Your journal stays yours
Your coffees, brews, recipes and photos stay on your phone. Pourbook never sends them anywhere and never reads your location. They leave it only if you save a backup or a CSV file where you choose.
It works with no connection and no account, and it needs the internet only for ads. It never asks you for a permission: not your camera, your photos or your location.
Android's own cloud backup is off for Pourbook, so a new phone starts with an empty journal unless you restore a backup you saved.

★ What Pourbook is not
It says nothing about caffeine, health or how a coffee should taste, judges no roast date, and has no shop and no links to one.
A brew recipe here is coffee's own - a dose, water and pours. Pourbook keeps no cooking recipes, converts no units and makes no shopping list.
A price is your own note of what you paid: Pourbook adds no prices together, keeps no budget and moves no money.
No maker of gear or coffee is named: your brewer and grinder are called what you call them.

★ Ads
Ads come from Google's ads software, which receives your phone's advertising ID, an approximate location from its internet address and how ads are seen. Pourbook never gives it a coffee, a brew, a photo or a word you wrote. An ad only ever comes after you save a new brew or a new coffee, never while you brew or type.
