SteamLog: Sauna & Cold Plunge
Sauna and cold plunge round timer. End the session, get a card.
About SteamLog: Sauna & Cold Plunge
You step out of the sauna, sit down on the bench, and you can't remember whether that was your second round or your third. Or how long you were in there. SteamLog keeps the count so you don't have to.
One set is sauna, cold plunge, rest. Hit start and the timer walks through them in order; hit it again to move on early. Leave your phone in the locker if you want - the timer reads the clock instead of counting ticks, so close the app, stay in for ten minutes, and ten minutes have gone by when you come back. A notification tells you when a phase is up.
One more tap ends the session, and the visit you just finished draws itself into a card. The date lands first, then each set fills a slot, then the temperatures you wrote down, and the totonou line last. About two seconds, and a tap on the screen skips ahead. The card that comes out is the one you share.
Temperature, totonou, the place you went, a note to yourself: those come afterwards, and only the ones you feel like adding. Skip every one and the card still finishes. Went without your phone? Put the number of sets and the times into Log a past sauna and you get the same card, so you can see what this app does on the day you install it.
Most people settle on timings that suit them and stay with them, so the round you just ran can be saved to My Sets: sauna 12 min, cold plunge 45 sec, rest 10 min. Give it a name and your next visit starts with one tap. Lengths that show up often in your log get offered to you as well. Nothing here tells you one set is better than another. It only counts how many times you did it that way.
A home screen widget carries your week: how many visits so far, and how many weeks you have kept it going. It sits on the lock screen too. Inside the app you get your log newest first, a month calendar, visits and sets for this week and this month, total time, average temperature, and how many times you have been back to the same place.
No account, no server, no analytics. The app makes no network requests at all. The one thing that ever leaves your phone is a card you tapped to share. It is free, with no ads and nothing to buy inside it. Dark mode, larger text, reduced motion and screen reader labels follow your phone settings.
Totonou, the word printed on the card, is the Japanese sauna term for the way a round leaves you feeling. You pick it for yourself and write it down; it is not a score and not a measurement.
Saunas and cold plunges put a load on the body. If you have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or if you are pregnant, talk to a doctor before using a sauna. Stop right away if you feel dizzy or unwell.
