About Glitter Wallpapers

Glitter is a variation of tiny, reflective particles that appears in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Glitter particles mirror light at different angles, causing the surface to shine. The glitter is similar to confetti or sequins but slightly smaller.

Since prehistoric times, glitter has been manufactured from many different materials, such as insects and glass, as well as stones, such as mica. Modern glitter is often made from a combination of aluminum and plastic and is rarely recycled, leading to scientists' calls to ban plastic glitter.

Today, more than 20,000 varieties of glitter are produced in a multitude of different colors, sizes, and materials. One estimate suggests that 10 million pounds (4.5 million kilograms) of glitter were purchased or produced between 1989 and 2009, but the source provides no evidence or reference points. Commercial glitter ranges from 0.002 to 0.25 inches (0.05 to 6.35 mm) on edge. First, flat multilayer sheets are produced by combining plastic, colorant, and reflective materials such as aluminum, titanium dioxide, iron oxide. These sheets are then cut into small particles of many shapes, including squares, triangles, rectangles, and hexagons.

Glittering surfaces have been discovered to be used in art and cosmetics since prehistoric times. However, about 30,000 years ago, mica flakes were used to give cave paintings a sparkling appearance. It is believed that prehistoric people used cosmetics made from powdered hematite, a lustrous mineral.
