A train is a means of transport consisting of wagons pulled or pushed by one or more locomotives on rails.
The train was first used in England in the early 1800s. The train was born because of an argument between an engineer named Richard Trevithick and a mine owner in Pennydarran, England. Engineer Trevithick claimed to be able to transport 10 tons of iron cargo with a steam engine he built himself on a rail track from Pennydarran to Cardiff without any difficulty. Thus, on 6 February 1804, a locomotive called the Tram-Waggon departed from Cardiff with a 10-ton iron load and also a 70-passenger car.
A high-speed train is a railway vehicle that provides the opportunity to travel faster than regular trains. In the world, the travel speed of 200 km/h (some European countries accept 190 km/h) and above on old rails, and 250 km/h and above trains on newly laid lines are defined as high-speed trains. These trains can travel at a speed of less than 200 km/h on conventional (with the old system) rails and over 200 km/h on high-speed rails.
Until the invention of motor vehicles in the early 20th century, trains were the world's only land-based public transportation vehicles, and as a result, they were in a severe monopoly. Europe and the United States have been using steam trains for high-speed train services since 1933. The average speed of these trains was 130 km per hour, and they could reach a maximum of 160 km per hour.
In 1957, in Tokyo, Odakyu Electric Railway commissioned Japan's own high-speed train, the 3000 SSE. This train broke the world speed record at 145 kilometers per hour. This development gave Japanese designers profound confidence that they could quickly build faster trains than this. The density of passengers, especially between Tokyo and Osaka, played an important role in Japan's being a pioneer in high-speed train development.
