About Evil Eye Wallpapers

The evil eye is a look believed to cause an accident or trouble to an animate or inanimate being. It is believed that especially children, pregnant women, or animals are affected by the evil eye.

In some societies, it is believed that the evil eye can even crack objects. The idea is that the blue bead will absorb this energy and destroy it. The connection of the word with the ember "piece of fire" is also noteworthy. The gaze is thought to have a burning power.

The origin of the evil eye belief goes back to ancient times. This belief, which is also seen in ancient Roman and Hellenic civilizations, in Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, and Hindu societies, has taken its place especially in indigenous and peasant societies and has survived to the present day. Throughout history, it has been believed that the evil eye of foreigners, disabled people with body deformation, childless women, and old women is more touched.

In the past, it was believed that the evil eye was touched unintentionally in some societies. For example, in Slavic folklore, there is the story of a father who blinded himself because he had an evil eye on his children. More recently, the belief that the evil eye is touched by jealousy has become widespread. For this reason, especially in Medieval Europe, it was customary to add the words "If God permits" or "God bless" when a property or child is praised. In Muslim societies, the word mashallah, which has similar meanings, is used.

The methods believed to protect from evil eyes differ from society to society. One of the most common methods is to wear jewelry such as evil eye beads or to carry a prayer inscribed paper, such as an amulet. In some parts of India, married couples wear clothes of the opposite sex to ward off the evil eye. In some Asian societies, black paint is applied around the eyes of children. In some African and Asian societies, it is believed that the most affected by the evil eye is when eating and drinking because the soul is easier to leave the body when the mouth is open. Therefore, the meal is eaten alone or with close relatives.
