The vehicle's executive designer, John Najjar, was a fan of the WWII P-51 Mustang fighter jet and suggested the Mustang name to Ford. Ford decided to name his new vehicle "Mustang" because of the success of this plane in World War II and the name that would suit this new car that Ford will produce.
