About RuckMile: Rucking Tracker
RuckMile tracks walks with added weight, whether you carry a loaded rucksack, wear a weighted vest or use a day bag with extra weight. Set the load, press Start and walk. When you finish, see your distance, time, pace, elevation gain and estimated calories, including the estimated extra calories from the load. RuckMile also works out load × distance, in pound-miles or kilogram-kilometres.
THE LOAD IS THE POINT
Distance tells you how far you walked. RuckMile also records how much weight you carried.
- Set the load in pounds or kilograms before each ruck, or pick a saved load such as "Pack with 30 lb plate"
- RuckMile estimates calories using the Pandolf load-carriage equation, with a downhill adjustment. It uses your body weight, the carried load, your walking speed, the slope from GPS and the ground you pick: pavement, dirt road, trail, rough trail, sand or snow
- The summary shows how many of those calories came from carrying the load, worked out as the same ruck with and without it
- Load × distance for each ruck and your weekly total, in lb·mi or kg·km, with ton-miles shown smaller on each ruck
ON THE WALK
- GPS distance, time, pace and elevation gain in big type you can read with a pack on
- Your route draws as you go, as a line on a plain contour background with no map tiles
- Your ruck tracker keeps recording with the screen off in your pocket, and a screen lock stops a stray tap from pausing the ruck
- Moving time separates walking from time spent stopped
- If a ruck is interrupted, RuckMile offers back the route recorded so far when you reopen the app
AFTER THE WALK
- A summary with the route, every figure and a note of how it went
- A share card image built around your load × distance
- Add a treadmill ruck or one walked without your phone by hand; calories are estimated at your average pace on flat ground
THE LONG VIEW
- A log of every ruck with its route, grouped by month
- This week's distance and load × distance, with a bar for each day
- Monthly and yearly rucking volume, with a comparison to the previous month
- A weekly goal for distance or load × distance, and a streak of weeks that hit it
- A ruck day reminder on the days and at the time you choose
RUCKMILE PRO
Recording, the summary, the share card, the whole log, the week view and backups are part of every plan, with a banner ad on the Log and Progress screens. RuckMile Pro adds monthly and yearly volume, the weekly goal and streak, GPX export for every route, CSV export of the whole log and more than two saved loads, and removes the ads. Everything you record stays yours to read on every plan.
LOCATION AND BACKGROUND USE
RuckMile collects location data only during a ruck you start, to measure distance, pace, route and elevation, including while the screen is off or the app is in the background. A recording notification stays visible the whole time. No location is collected when no ruck is running. Your routes are stored on your phone, and RuckMile does not upload them to a server.
A WORD ON THE NUMBERS
Calories are an estimate from a published model, not a medical measurement, and GPS altitude is never exact. This rucking app records and adds up; it does not set a training plan.
