Koenigsegg is a high-performance sports car brand produced in Ängelholm, Sweden.
The name Koenigsegg was taken from the surname of Christian von Koenigsegg, the company's founder, and CEO, in 1994.

The stop-motion cartoon "The Pinchcliffe Grand Prix," which Christian von Koenigsegg watched when he was five years old, changed his life completely. This cartoon was about a simple bicycle mechanic building his racing car. Impressed by the movie, Christian decided to make his car that day.

Koenigsegg was founded to produce a world-class super sports car. After years of testing and development for a vehicle that could be banned from the road, Koenigsegg introduced the CC8S in 2002.

In 2007, Koenigsegg produced the CCXR, a biofuel version after the CC8S. The car had an engine that allowed the car to run on a mixture of regular gasoline or ethanol and these two fuels.

Koenigsegg introduced a new design called Agera at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The Koenigsegg Agera model had a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission developed by 960 HP power brand engineers from a 5.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine.

The Koenigsegg team closed a highway in Nevada to break the world's fastest production vehicle record by developing this Agera model it produced. Its new model, the Koenigsegg Agera RS, recorded a top speed of 277.8mph and beat the Bugatti Veyron Supersport, which could reach slightly less than before.

In 2018, Koenigsegg's CEO Christian von Koenigsegg produced the Jesko model for the press, Jesko von Koenigsegg.

By 2020, Koenigsegg introduced the Gemera model. This car, of which 300 will be produced, would be Koenigsegg's first four-seater vehicle.
