The first Bugatti EB110 was unveiled on September 15, 1991, on the 110th birthday of the company's founder, Ettore Bugatti. But a year later, the Bugatti EB 110 unleashed the full potential of its four-turbocharged 3.5-liter V12 engine. Producing 612 horsepower, the Bugatti EB110 Super Sport showed its face for the first time at the 1992 Geneva Motor Show.
The Bugatti EB110 was visually no different from the standard EB110. The SS model hasn't lost the Marcello Gandini-designed details of the regular 110, particularly at the front, but has been colored with additional aerodynamic touches. Most of the Bugatti EB110's updates have been done under the hood. Along with larger injectors and a free-flowing exhaust system for the engine, the car's weight has been reduced by 150 kilograms. While the Bugatti EB110 SS accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, it could reach a maximum speed of 355 km/h.
In 1994, Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher bought a yellow Bugatti EB110 SS. This move by Schumacher allowed Bugatti to strengthen its image in the supercar space, but this was only temporary.
Bugatti set the bar very seriously, especially in design, with the Type 57 and Royale produced in the 30s. Celebrating its 110th anniversary in the 90s, when cult models such as Lambo Diablo and Ferrari F40 ruled, Bugatti introduced the Bugatti EB110 model, named after its founder Ettore Bugatti.
Romano Artoli's Bugatti went out of business with the Bugatti EB110 following the ambitious executive's 1995 acquisition by Lotus. Bugatti's bankruptcy also halted the development of the planned EB112. The remaining Bugatti EB110s and parts were sold to Dauer Racing GmbH, and after Volkswagen bought Bugatti in 1998, the Bugatti EB110 disappeared into the dusty pages of history.
Bugatti EB110, one of Bugatti's most limited models, can see prices up to 850 million euros in auctions today.
