Flowers are the reproductive organs of seed plants. Short shoots and side branches with restricted growth, which are used for sexual reproduction in seed plants and carry leaves that have undergone metamorphosis appropriately for this work, are called flowers.
Flower-bearing plants are called anophytes (flowering plants) or spermatophytes (seed plants).

In angiosperm plants, the flowers are located at the end of a short or long flower stalk (pedicel) on the stem. Other organs of the flower develop on this stem, attached to a more or less enlarged receptaculum (flower tray), a structure called thalamus or torus.
In a typical angiosperm flower, the organs arranged in concentric circles are listed as follows:
The outermost two rings of the perianth (flower cover).
Inner 3rd circle androecium (collection of male organs).
In the innermost 4th circle, there is the gynaeceum (aggregation of female organs).

The cover leaves, located in the outer two rings that protect the reproductive organs, are generally of two different types (in some plant groups, but only one class) and are called perianth.
In flowers, if the perianth contains a uniform cover leaf or leaf, it is called perigon. Each cover leaf of the perigon is called the natural. Most monocot bulbous plants have a perigon.


If the cover leaves forming the perianth in flowers differ, the outer surface is called the calyx, and the inner cover leaves are called the corolla.
Each cover leaf that forms the calyx is called a sepal, and each cover leaf that makes up the corolla is called a petal (petal).

If the flowers are sepals as separate leaves, such calyces are called apocryphal or conceal. If the sepals meet short or long distances from the base, such calyces are called gamosepalous or syncopal.
