About ClaimWise

ClaimWise is a retirement-timing planner for the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and the Quebec Pension Plan (QPP). It answers the one question a paycheck calculator cannot: what is the best age to start your public pension?

Enter the monthly benefit your Service Canada or Retraite Quebec statement projects for age 65, your current age, and the age you plan to live to. ClaimWise does the rest.

WHAT YOU GET
- Every claiming age, 60 to 70. Your monthly benefit at each age, using the actuarial adjustment (0.6% per month before 65, down to -36% at 60; 0.7% per month after 65, up to +42% at 70). Applied per month, so part-year ages are exact.
- A best-age recommendation. The hero shows the claiming age that maximizes your lifetime income, its monthly benefit, and the lifetime total, with an honest "should you delay?" read and the exact dollar gap versus claiming at 65.
- A benefit-by-age chart. See the monthly benefit at every age from 60 to 70 at a glance, with the best age highlighted.
- Lifetime comparison. All eleven ages ranked by the total income they return over your planned lifetime, with the income-maximizing age marked.
- Break-even explorer. Pick any earlier and later start age and see the exact age where the later start's cumulative dollars overtake the earlier one, drawn as two cumulative curves.
- Optional real return. Discount future dollars to weigh the time value of money against a larger delayed benefit.
- Save scenarios and share a summary. Everything stays on your device.

WHY CLAIMWISE
- Built for the CPP/QPP claiming-age decision specifically, not take-home pay
- Shows the real lifetime dollar difference, not a vague "wait if you can"
- Covers both CPP (federal) and QPP (Quebec), which use the same claiming-age factors
- 100% offline, no account, no cloud
- One purchase, no ads, no tracking

WHAT IT DOES NOT MODEL
- Indexation (lifts every age about equally, so it nets out of the comparison)
- Tax on benefits (varies with your other income)
- Survivor benefits (a separate calculation)
- Post-retirement contributions and disability conversions

ClaimWise is an informational comparator. It does not replace advice from a CFP, accountant, or Service Canada / Retraite Quebec. For a binding decision, consult a planner.
