The Satyanarayan Puja is a religious worship of the Hindu god Vishnu. Satya means “truth” and Narayana means, “The highest being” so Satyanarayan means “The highest being who is an embodiment of Truth”. Vrat or Puja means a religious vow, religious observance, or obligation.
 
Lord Satyanarayana is a form of Lord Vishnu. The mention of Lord Satyanarayana is found in Skanda Purana. In the Skanda Purana, Lord Vishnu has told Narada the importance of this fast. The simplest, most popular, and effective worship in Kali Yuga is considered to be that of Lord Satyanarayana.
