About PerliDrop: Send Files

PerliDrop turns a file into a link. Pick it, upload it, send the link — instead of a 300 MB attachment that bounces.

It is a front end onto a Perlicom drop-box. You sign in with your Google account, your files sit on that server, and every link comes from there. Nothing is transferred phone-to-phone and nothing stays only on the handset.

SENDING
• Pick a file, or share to PerliDrop from any app on the phone
• The link goes on the clipboard the moment the upload finishes
• Show the link as a QR code, so a phone can take it off a desktop screen
• Live progress, and a cancel that actually aborts the upload rather than ignoring it
• Public or private: a private file needs your account to download it

LINKS THAT STOP WORKING
• Set an expiry — 1 hour, 2 hours, 6 hours, a day, 7, 30 or 90 days, or never
• Optionally delete the file itself when the link expires. Off by default, because "the link should stop working" and "the file should be gone" are two different intentions.

RECEIVING
• Make an inbox link and send it to someone. They upload through a plain web page — no account, no app, no install.
• Inbox links are measured in minutes, not days, and you set how many files one will accept
• What arrives is private. Somebody else's upload does not become a public URL under your name.

MY FILES
• Every file, with its link, its size and when its link expires
• Download back to this device — on Android it lands in your Downloads folder
• Delete anything, at any time
• A space bar showing what the drop-box will still accept

WHY IT ASKS FOR SO LITTLE
PerliDrop requests no storage permission at all. Everything it uploads arrives through the system file picker or through a share, and both already hand it the one file you chose — so asking to read the whole disk would be a prompt with nothing behind it. Saving a download goes through Android's own media store, which needs no permission either. It never asks for your photos, contacts or messages.
It is also deliberately not registered to open files. PerliDrop appears when you share something to it, and can never quietly become the default app for opening your PDFs.

HOW IT IS PAID FOR
PerliDrop is free, with ads: a Google AdMob banner at the foot of My files, and now and then a full-screen ad after an upload has finished and you have left the Send tab. Nothing covers an upload, a link or its QR code. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription. Ads are served by Google AdMob, with your consent where the law requires it.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL
• A Google sign-in is required. The drop-box will not issue a link without one.
• A drop-box can be set up to accept only certain accounts. The app checks and tells you that up front, rather than after a consent screen.
• Your files and links live on the server, not on your phone. Anyone holding a public link can download that file until it expires.
• Optional feature-usage counting is off by default. It counts actions only — never a file name, a link, or who you sent it to — and nothing is uploaded anywhere.

There is a Linux desktop version too. Drag a file onto the window, and it lives in the system tray so closing the window never kills a transfer.
