About Halloo: Clap to Find Phone
Halloo is a phone finder from Moonlet Labs for the times your phone is close by but out of sight. Turn on listening and put the phone down. When it's lost under a cushion or in a bag nearby, clap twice or whistle, and Halloo rings (and, unless you turn them off, flashes the torch and vibrates) for up to a minute or until you tap Stop.
Listens until you stop it
Tap Listen in the app, the Quick Settings tile or the home screen widget. Halloo listens until you stop it, or until its timer runs out after 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours. A notification with a Stop button shows the whole time. If another app needs the microphone, such as a call, listening pauses and picks up again when the microphone is free; if it stays busy for 10 minutes, listening stops.
Rings even on silent
The alert uses the alarm sound, so it rings in silent mode wherever Android lets alarms play. It raises the alarm volume while it rings and puts it back afterwards. Unless you turn them off, the torch flashes and the phone vibrates too. The alert stops by itself after a minute and goes back to listening. If Do Not Disturb blocks alarms, Android silences the sound and the vibration too, and only the torch flashes.
Tune it to your room
Choose claps, a whistle or both, and set the sensitivity. The Test it screen shows a live sound meter and the level Halloo listens for, so you can set it high enough to hear you and low enough that everyday noise doesn't set it off.
What it can't do
Halloo can't find a phone that is switched off, out of battery or too far away to hear you. It only listens while you have listening turned on, and it never turns itself on.
Privacy
Sound is analysed on the device. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent. Android shows the green mic dot while Halloo listens. (On Android 11 and older, which have no mic dot, Halloo's notification shows instead.) No account needed, and listening works offline. The app is ad-supported: ads are served by Google AdMob, which may use the advertising ID. Moonlet Labs collects crash reports and usage analytics through Google Firebase, linked to pseudonymous app identifiers rather than your name or email; they never include any audio. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent first, and privacy choices are in Settings. Privacy policy: moonletlabs.com/privacy.html
