About Hidden Camera Detector: Finder

Hidden Camera Detector helps you check a hotel room, rental or changing room for hidden cameras and unfamiliar electronics, using the sensors already in your Android phone. Five simple tools, one careful room check.

Five inspection tools
• Magnetic check: a live µT gauge that rises near magnets, motors, speakers and other electronics. Hold the phone close to smoke detectors, clocks, chargers and vents.
• Infrared check: in a dark room, your camera view can make the IR lights of night-vision cameras visible as small bright dots.
• Lens check: turn on the flashlight, sweep slowly and look for the tiny reflection a camera lens can give off.
• Wi-Fi device list: see the devices that answer on the Wi-Fi network you are connected to, with their IP address and, where available, the maker.
• Bluetooth device list: see nearby Bluetooth devices that are discoverable.

How to check a room
1. Turn off the lights and run the infrared check around the room.
2. Use the lens check on anything pointed at the bed, shower or desk.
3. Hold the phone close to objects with the magnetic check.
4. Review the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth lists for devices you don't recognise.
5. Inspect anything unusual up close.

What the app can and can't find
A phone can only see some signs of hidden devices. The magnetic gauge reacts to all metal and electronics, not only cameras. The infrared check only shows cameras that use IR lights. The Wi-Fi list only shows devices on the same network as you. The Bluetooth list only shows devices that are discoverable. No app can guarantee it finds every camera or tracker, so treat readings as clues for a closer look.

Good for
• Hotels, motels and vacation rentals
• Changing rooms and shared bathrooms
• Dorms, offices and meeting rooms

Results depend on your phone's sensors, the room and the devices in it. Hidden Camera Detector is a personal privacy aid. Always confirm anything suspicious by inspecting it yourself, and contact the property or local authorities if you find a device.
