HISET Test Information
The High School Equivalency Test (HISET) is a new alternative to the GED test that can assist you in obtaining the vital state-issued high school equivalency certification. Passing the HiSET exam demonstrates that you have attained the academic knowledge and proficiency of a high school graduate.
The HiSET exam has also been matched with the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards for Adult Education published by the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) in April 2013. Employers and authorized colleges in all 50 states accept the HiSET diploma/certificate.
Furthermore, because the HiSET exam examines critical components of the CCR Standards for Adult Education and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), it assists in identifying areas in which you are career and college ready. A subtest score of 15 reflects college and career preparedness.
The HiSET exam consists of five subtests and will last approximately 7 hours, with the following schedule for each subset:
Language Arts – Reading: 65 minutes
Language Arts – Writing: 120 minutes
Mathematics: 90 minutes
