About Lodge: Masonic Symbols
Lodge is a guide to the symbols of Freemasonry and the Rose Cross, read from the books that explain them. Each emblem is drawn, described in plain words, and set beside the lecture a lodge member was actually given and the writers who interpreted it.
44 EMBLEMS
• Working tools: the gauge, gavel, square, level, plumb and trowel
• The lodge: the apron, square and compasses, the mosaic pavement, the blazing star, the point within a circle, the ashlars, the three pillars
• Fellow Craft: Jachin and Boaz, the winding stairs, the five orders, the seven liberal arts, the letter G
• Master Mason: the beehive, the anchor and ark, the forty-seventh problem of Euclid, the hourglass, the sprig of acacia
• Rose Cross and Temple: the rose and cross, the pelican, the vault of the Fama, the Templars' red cross and banner
THE BOOKS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
Every emblem opens with the published lecture from an official Grand Lodge monitor of 1922, the part that was printed for anyone to read. Then come the interpreters, each named: Albert Mackey's symbolism, Albert Pike's Morals and Dogma, W. L. Wilmshurst's mystical reading, A. E. Waite on the Rosicrucians. They disagree, and Lodge lets you see where. Tap "Read in context" and the full chapter opens at the quoted paragraph.
DEGREES
• The three Craft degrees with their emblems and lectures
• Pike's lectures for the Scottish Rite degrees 4 to 32, grouped by body, with the opening lines of each
HISTORY
• A timeline from the Templars of 1118 to the first Grand Lodge of 1717 and the Victorian interpreters, every date linked to the book that states it
• Ten short articles: what a monitor is, operative and speculative masons, the Rosicrucian manifestos, the Templars between history and legend, secrecy and symbols
A LIBRARY IN YOUR POCKET
Nine complete historical books from 1842 to 1922, searchable and readable offline: Mackey, Pike, Newton's The Builders, Wilmshurst, Waite, Hartmann, Addison's History of the Knights Templars, Cooper-Oakley and the Texas Monitor. Save chapters and emblems; Lodge remembers where you stopped reading.
WHAT LODGE IS NOT
Lodge explains symbols and their history. It does not print passwords, grips or obligations, and it leaves out the old exposures and conspiracy books.
• An emblem of the day, the same for everyone on the same date, with a home-screen widget
• Share an emblem as an image with its quotation and source
• Adjustable reading size, dark theme
• No account, nothing to sign in to
Free to install, with ads. A single one-time purchase removes them.
