About Sacred Geometry: Compass Art
Sacred geometry drawn the way it was always drawn: with a compass and a straightedge, one step at a time. The vesica piscis, the Flower of Life, Metatron's Cube, the pentagram, the golden section and the five Platonic solids, each built from nothing but circles and straight lines, with Euclid's proposition beside it where there is one.
Every step is a real compass or straightedge move. No point is placed by hand, nothing is rotated by a number of degrees. When a figure cannot be built that way, the app says so and shows you why.
CONSTRUCT
• 19 constructions, played step by step: forward, back, or as an animation
• From Euclid I.1 to Gauss's seventeen-sided polygon of 1796, drawn in 125 steps
• Each step named: which circle, which line, which crossing
• Verify any finished figure: the app measures its own drawing and reports the largest error
• Export as PNG, as SVG, or as a phone wallpaper
DRAW
• A free canvas with the same two tools
• Crossings snap into place, so what you draw is exact
• Undo, redo, save, and measure the distance between any two points
• Your drawing is a construction too: it saves as its steps and draws again identically
SOLIDS
• The five Platonic solids as rotating wire models you can turn with a finger
• Vertices, edges and faces, and each solid's dual
• What Euclid proved about them, what Plato's Timaeus gave them, and where Kepler set them between the planets
PROVEN, OLD TEXT, OR MODERN
Every statement in the app carries its level. Proven: a theorem with its reference, from Euclid to Wantzel. Old text: what an ancient or historical writer said. Modern: a name or a claim from the last century or so. The Flower of Life is an old pattern with a modern name, and the app tells you which part is which.
CLAIMS AND MEASUREMENTS
The golden ratio in the Parthenon, the nautilus shell, the Great Pyramid; the Flower of Life at Abydos; Metatron's Cube and the five solids. Each claim is set out with who makes it and what measurement or proof shows, and where a drawing can show the difference, it does: the nautilus spiral beside the golden one.
LORE
Ten articles: what "sacred geometry" means as a phrase, the compass and straightedge rules, the four impossible problems (the heptagon, trisecting an angle, doubling the cube, squaring the circle), Gauss and the seventeen-gon, the golden ratio and its stories, rosettes, and magic squares. A table shows which regular polygons from 3 to 100 sides can be constructed, and why.
Everything is computed on your device. No account, no sign-in.
Free to install, with ads. A single one-time purchase removes them; every construction, the canvas, the solids and all exports are free either way.
