The purpose of writing the book, as written in the introduction to the book, is as follows, "When "fiqh" is juxtaposed with "diversity", which later becomes the title of this book, the meaning is a view of diversity or a formulation of the attitude of Muslims in facing diversity. Of course, the aim of diversity jurisprudence is not to create uniformity; nor does it create a common view from the different understandings of Muslims.
The spirit of the Fiqh of Diversity emphasizes the spirit of unity and brotherhood, as well as the spirit of upholding the principles of justice and humanity based on Islamic teachings contained in the Koran, hadith and the results of ijtihad."
From the title, I was curious. Moreover, the title given is about jurisprudence. In my opinion, if we talk about jurisprudence, we will not be separated from the ijtihad methodology and use the Al-Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah as a basis for exploring various jurisprudential conclusions.
There is a lot of valuable information in this book. Of the many writings, there are several criticisms of Islamic studies and Islamic culture, especially those written by Amin Abdullah, Hamim Ilyas, and Muhammad Azhar. However, in our view, it is not in accordance with the facts as in the historical reality and Islamic culture.
Hopefully the material content of this application can be useful for self-introspection and better improvement in everyday life.
