This commercial vehicle, known as Volkswagen Transporter or with other names, Volkswagen t1, Kombi, or Microbus, which varies according to body type, is a light commercial vehicle model vehicle belonging to the T platform, produced by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles affiliated to Volkswagen AG in the United States or the United Kingdom. It started production in 1950 under the name T2. The Volkswagen Transporter series was named T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, and T7.
The Volkswagen t1 model is the first generation vehicle produced between 1950-1964. The Volkswagen t1 engine had an air-cooled engine located at the rear. Production of the second generation began in 1967, and the air-cooled system continued in production until 1979.
Thanks to the development of the water-cooled engine option that came in the production of the third generation Volkswagen T series vehicle, the water-cooled engine became standard with the fourth generation vehicle, which began production in 1990.
As the Dutch importer of Volkswagen t1 Ben Pon came across during his visit to the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg in 1946, a vehicle named Plattenwagen, developed by a few Volkswagen employees inspired by the Volkswagen Beetle, used to transport heavy parts from one production building to another; April 23, 1947, drew the first sketch of a vehicle with a rear engine, front-wheel drive, and a box-shaped body.
Volkswagen t1 production was approved on May 19, 1949, by Volkswagen General Manager Heinrich Nordhoff.
Nicknamed "Muskel," meaning "strong" in German, "in the reference" to the Volkswagen t1's powerful appearance, the prototype of this vehicle was introduced and launched in Wolfsburg in November.
Production of Volkswagen t1s was discontinued in Germany in 1967, but production of this generation in Brazil continued until 1975. Later versions produced in Brazil were modified to have large taillights with a similar front-end structure to the Volkswagen T2. The production of these models, called Volkswagen t1.5, lasted until 1996.
The Volkswagen t1 produced by the VW company has become the lifestyle of many people who have acted in many movies with its ageless structure.
While Volkswagen t1's are being used as mini caravans thanks to the special restorations made today, it is a unique tool that many surfers are looking for.
Today, if you want to own a custom-designed Volkswagen t1, you must sacrifice between 10,000 to 150,000 US dollars.
