1st Generation Subaru Impreza 1992-2000 not entered the United States. Known as the "Bug Eye" among 2nd Generation Subaru Impreza fans, the generation Impreza WRX STi was smaller than the model it replaced. While the coupe body type disappeared with the new design language of the Japanese brand, the WRX entered the US territory in 2002.
The 3rd Generation Subaru Impreza has transitioned to a more refined design approach with the WRX STI model. The station wagon version of the sedan, which was longer and broader than before, was replaced by the 5-door hatchback. The engine and mechanical details of its predecessor were used in the new WRX.
The 4th Generation Subaru Impreza began to separate the WRX and WRX STI models from the Impreza family. Although the infrastructure and design are generally shared, the front and rear sections of the WRX pair are slightly different from the vehicle they are based on. With the Mk4 WRX, Subie started using the 2.0 engine with the code FA20F.
The 5th Generation Subaru Impreza is expected to arrive in 2021 or 2022.
