Royal Enfield motorcycles are perhaps the first mass-produced motorcycle brand in the history of the world.

Royal Enfield was founded in November 1891 by entrepreneurs Bob Walker Smith and Albert Eadie, George Townsend & Co. of Hunt End, Redditch. Townsend's been a reputable needle manufacturer for nearly 50 years that has recently started producing bicycles.

Royal Enfield began exploring motorsport when one in four motorcycles entered the first 1000 Mile Trial. They tried hard to convince the British public of the viability of motorized transport.

Using a 297cc Swiss-made Motosacoche engine, Royal Enfield's first V-twin was unveiled at the Stanley Cycle Show. The model had numerous successes the following year, including the John O' Groats to Lands End Trial.

Royal Enfield's first 2-stroke motorcycle is in total production. As Britain grew in World War I, the company's most significant motorcycle output, the 770cc six hp V-twin, took precedence.

Royal Enfield adopted saddle-type tanks to replace the outdated flat petrol tanks in 1928. It also becomes one of the first manufacturers to change the front fork system from the Druid design to center strut forks.

Royal Enfield is introducing a new retail experience in India by opening the first-of-its-kind specialty gear store at Khan Market in New Delhi.

In 1949 KR Sundaram Iyer launched Madras Motors to import British motorcycles into India, including Royal Enfields.

In 2017, the New 650cc Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT twins were unveiled at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy, and Rider Mania in Goa, India. The company opened its first cafe, Royal Enfield Garage Cafe, in Baga, Goa.

In today's history, Royal Enfield motorcycles are still in production. This respected brand never compromises on its quality from the past.
