Renault truck is a French commercial truck company headquartered in Saint-Priest, near Lyon. Originally part of Renault, the company has been a subsidiary of the Volvo Group since 2001.
From its inception in 1978 until 2002, the company was called Renault truck Industriels "Renault Industrial Vehicles" from 1992. It was officially written as Renault. Until 2002, Renault Industriels also produced buses.
Renault truck first started producing special commercial trucks in 1906. In 1956 Renault stopped making trucks and buses under its name. Instead, the company Saviem was established as a subsidiary of its commercial products with manufacturers Somua and Latil. However, lighter advertisements continued to use the Renault name. From 1957, Saviem was also used as a brand name for Renault trucks and Renault buses produced by the company.
Renault became a member of the Euro Truck Development Group in 1971. Cooperation with the four European truck companies Volvo, DAF, and Magirus-Deutz, and soon became part of Iveco for the production of medium trucks. Since 1975, the truck models from this cooperation were produced by Saviem and later by Renault truck until 2001. They were also sold in the North American market as the Mack Mid-Liner.
Renault truck participated in the FIA European Championship with Renault Premium powered by 13-liter DXi13 engines. Renault truck MKR Technology team won in 2010.
