Born in 1734, Jean-Pierre Peugeot was the first founder of the industrial orientation of the Peugeot family. Jean-Pierre started his business in weaving and left a dyehouse, an oil factory, and a mill to his heirs.

In 1810, Jean-Pierre's two sons, Jean-Pierre II and Jean-Frédéric, establish the company (Peugeot Brothers). A family mill owned by Jean-Frédéric turns into a steel foundry.

Alongside the famous coffee mill created in 1840, the Peugeot family innovated and developed its industrial activities. The family produces saws, springs, and umbrella frames.

Interested in vehicles in the 1880s, the company started to produce two-wheeled bicycles in 1882. It achieved a significant sales figure from the bikes it created in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This success encouraged Armand Peugeot, Peugeot's engineer, to enter the automobile industry.

First, Armand Peugeot produced the 3-wheel "Serpollet-Peugeot," powered by steam. He later used oil instead of moisture, and in 1905 he created the first four-wheeled vehicle.

Introducing its name to the automobile world with its first car, Peugeot produced 200 model cars until 1921. Armand Peugeot has benefited from the technology of its age to the fullest in every model it has made. It has always tried to produce vehicles that respect the environment.

Peugeot was also sold in the North American Market from 1959 to 1991. In 1999, they produced the HDI diesel engine for the first time. When it reached 200 in 2010, it updated its old logo with a new version. Peugeot plans to return to the North American Market again in the 2020s.
