About UFO Recorder

EVERYTHING IS FREE - RECORDING, ANALYSIS, AND REPORTING

Almost every light in the sky has an ordinary explanation. The hard part is finding it — because a video of a light, on its own, proves very little.

UFO Recorder films what you saw and records everything your phone knows about the moment it happened: where you were standing, where the camera was pointed, how much you can trust that pointing, and what the sensors read, frame by frame. Then it checks your sighting against what was genuinely up there.

WHAT IT CHECKS

• Satellites bright enough to see, each placed where it was at that second
• Starlink trains — the freshly launched strings that get reported as UFOs more than anything else
• Aircraft — live transponder traffic near you, with altitude, speed and listed route
• Drones — the Remote ID broadcasts drones send, heard by your phone while you record
• Celestial bodies — the Moon, planets and bright stars, in the sky as you saw it
• Towers, masts, lighthouses and navigation lights, from official registries and charts
• Weather balloons
• Meteor showers and fireballs
• Rocket launches, restricted airspace and maritime warnings
• Lightning, weather and geomagnetic activity

Each one comes back explained, cleared, or honestly marked as not checked.

A LIVE SKY OVERLAY

Point the camera up and the app labels what is there in real time — satellite names, planets and aircraft callsigns — with a marker sized to how accurate the pointing actually is. If the compass is disturbed, it tells you, rather than drawing a confident circle in the wrong place.

WHAT YOU GET BACK

A plain-language verdict. Known object, probably known, unresolved, or measured motion that does not match anything we could identify — with the reasoning written out, so you can argue with it.

WHAT IT WILL NOT DO

It will never tell you that you saw an alien craft. It cannot know that, and neither can anyone else. The strongest thing it will say is that every check came back clear and the measurements are unusual — which is a statement about the evidence, not about what was there. That restraint is the entire point: a report that claims too much is worth nothing to anyone.

PROOF NOBODY EDITED IT

Anyone can generate a convincing video of anything now, so "here is a video" has stopped being evidence. That is the first thing said about any sky footage, and most of it has no answer.

When you stop recording, your phone seals the file with a key built into its own hardware — one that cannot be copied off the device, by you or by us. The seal covers the video, the sensor readings, and where you stood. Change one frame or one number afterward, and it stops matching, including if we change it. We check it again against the bytes that actually reached us.

So it proves the file is the one your phone made and that nothing has been edited since. It does not prove what the light was — nothing can. But the argument can start with the footage instead of about it.

A COMPASS YOU CAN ACTUALLY TRUST

A phone's compass is routinely several degrees wrong, sometimes tens of degrees, and it rarely knows — a magnetic case, a car, a ship, a steel-framed building. Point at a star the app names and it measures its own error against a position known to a fraction of a degree, and keeps a correction for each part of the sky, because one correction does not hold across all of it. Patent pending. Without it, every identification after it is built on a bad heading.

FREE — ALL OF IT

Everything is free: 1080p recording, the full rule-out, your verdict and the complete report, live aircraft on the sky, the tracker, the magnified view, the drone layer and the almanac for any night. We don't hold anything back for a paid plan. If you would like to help keep it running, you can become a Supporter for $4.99 a month: a Supporter badge in the app and a thank-you on your reports.
