Somaphi

Somaphi composes ambient music live on your phone — relaxing music for sleep, meditation, calm and focus. Slow chords drift and resolve, melodies breathe, and soft textures play along: rain and ocean, singing bowls, koto, reed, celesta and wind chimes. It is always flowing, always evolving, and it plays for as long as you need it, all night if you like.

FIVE STATES FOR FIVE MOMENTS

Sleep, Drift, Calm, Focus and Flow each set the key, tempo, textures and mood for where you are. Sleep music thins and softens as you drift off; the daytime states slowly open up. An optional binaural beats layer is tuned to each state's brainwave band (Delta, Theta, Alpha, Beta, Gamma) and matched to the musical key. That layer needs headphones; the music itself sounds right on any speaker. A breathing guide paces your breath, and the music breathes with it.

SHAPE IT WITH A FINGERTIP

Glide across the orb to move the whole sound between warm and sparkling, intimate and vast. Switch textures on and off, and hold one to set its level: the button fills like water in a cup. Strum the scale keys like a harp; Somaphi shows which notes belong to the current chord, so anything you play fits. A deep sub drone that follows every chord change adds weight when you want it.

BUILT FOR SLEEP

Set a sleep timer and the music lays itself down before you do, or leave it running all night. Somaphi keeps playing with the screen off, and you can pause it from the lock screen.

NO DOWNLOADS, NO STREAMING

Most relaxing-music apps ship gigabytes of recordings or stream them to you. Somaphi carries none: every sound is synthesised on your phone the moment you hear it, so infinite music fits in the space of a few photos and never needs a signal. Aeroplane mode is no obstacle to the ocean.

KEEP THE PRACTICE

A practice tracker keeps your streak and an optional daily reminder brings you back. Your soundscape is remembered exactly as you left it.
