Stranded on Principle

You wash up on an island with history's great inventors, and a storm is on the way. The only way off is a plane you build yourself.

Hear the inventors at camp. Cayley, the Wright brothers, Ada Lovelace, Lilienthal and more each have an idea for your plane, and each one needs something from the island. Gather what the plan needs, build three ideas with the people who had them, then test your plane off the cliff. Every test costs a day. Get everyone to the ship before the storm hits.

The physics decides. Every flight runs on lift, drag, thrust and weight, a sixtieth of a second at a time. Your phone runs the same numbers before you fly, so you can check the glide, the speed, the balance, the engine and the frame before you spend a day finding out.

See why it flew. Seven lessons, from the four forces to strong frames, each graph your own test flights and show where it turns up in physics class.

• 31 inventors, from Archimedes to the Wright brothers. Nine wash up on each island.
• Every island has at least one way out.
• A sandbox after your first escape: set the cliff, the ship and the wind, and build anything.
• Plays offline, start to finish. No account.
• Made for ages 13 and up.
