About Discover the Flinders Ranges
This free, self-drive and walk tour app is for the general public visiting the Ikara-Flinders Ranges NP and vicinity, probably for the first time. The park and surrounds feature iconic flora and fauna, important geological features, great arid lands scenery, indigenous art and rock engravings, and ruins from mid 19th to early 20th-century settlement (mining, cropping and grazing).
This app has been designed by the Friends of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, who have been volunteering in the Park since 1995. They have become intimately aware of the natural, Adnyamathanha (Ad-na-mut-na), mining and pastoral heritage of the area. This knowledge has been used to develop a comprehensive guide to the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park with almost 500 photos, 200 points-of-interest, geology and bird guides.
It provides a user-friendly way to unlock the secrets of the park, using photos, text and narration, assisted by maps, which show each point-of-interest relative to your current location, and alert you as you approach. A key feature is that an active Internet connection is not needed when using the app, provided you have already downloaded the tours that interest you, before leaving home.
To encourage app users to visit local tour and service operators, this app offers a free "tour" containing complimentary discount vouchers, exclusively for Discover the Flinders Ranges app users.
Included are tours of each of the major areas in the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, using publicly accessible roads and short walks from your car:
Appealinna, Aroona Valley, Brachina Gorge, Brachina: a journey through time in verse, Bunyeroo Valley, Do-It-Yourself, Ikara (Wilpena Pound), Old Wilpena Station
Additional information including Safety, How the app works, and Resources is available on the Information pages within the app.

User reviews
This is a great app. Plenty of information and easy to use in the field. There is little mobile phone coverage in the Flinders Ranges so we needed to download the app before leaving Port Augusta. The photos are superb and give a good idea of what to expect when choosing which tour to take. Top quality even thoug...
Great info
Very informative and fun app to have when exploring Flinders Ranges. I love the narration that is triggered when visiting or passing by an attraction/site. Overall a well made app perfectly doing its job. Not hard to learn how to use it either.
