About PadBench: Gamepad Test & Tools
PadBench is a gamepad tester and controller toolkit for Android: test every button and stick, calibrate drift and deadzones, and use your controller to move around your phone or tablet. It runs on Android 4.3 and newer.

Gamepad tester
• A guided full test gives your controller a 0–100 health score, with advice
• Every button lights up with key name, scan code, hold time and a double-press warning
• Raw view of every axis and key
More tests
• Snapback, slow sweep with stick resolution in bits, range and gate shape, trigger travel, click point and resolution
• Drift watch: 30 s hands off catches drift that comes and goes
• Straight-line push: linearity, tremor, built-in deadzone
• Double presses from worn buttons, cross-talk, opposite D-pad directions (SOCD), two buttons together
• Used controller check (pass, check or fail) and before/after a repair
• Trigger steadiness; warranty dates and a claim sheet
• Gyroscope at rest, battery log (Android 12+), wireless stability, layout check, keyboard, remote, mouse, drills
History and your controllers
Health trends, before/after compare, Bluetooth vs USB and CSV export. Nicknames and colors, two pads side by side, a vibration pattern studio.
Sticks, triggers and timing
• Live 2-D plot per stick with trail, circularity, drift at rest and noise; deadzone applied in one tap
• Trigger travel, hat or D-pad keys, touchpad trail
• Polling histogram with jitter and CSV, plus input delay inside the phone; not wireless delay
• Rumble; dual motors, battery, lights and motion sensors on Android 12+
• Report as text, CSV, PDF (4.4+) or result image, no personal data
Calibration and profiles
Deadzones (radial or axial), anti-deadzone, curves, range fix, invert or swap axes, trigger threshold, swapped A/B fixes and a live before/after plot. A stick filter (snapback filter and smoothing) for PadBench's pointer, couch mode and mapping. Profiles per controller as .padbench files; encrypted backup. Calibration applies inside PadBench and its mapping, not to other apps. On rooted phones you can export a key-layout (.kl) file that fixes buttons for every app; PadBench never installs it.
Couch mode
Back, Home, Recents, notifications, quick settings, volume, media keys and a brightness slider from the sofa, plus power menu, split screen, lock and screenshot where Android offers them. The D-pad moves a focus ring, A selects, shoulders scroll. Editable bindings; hold Select + Start to pause.
Pointer mode
A stick drives a cursor that taps (Android 7+) or clicks buttons in normal apps (4.3–6, or taps anywhere with the helper); the right stick scrolls.
Basic+ touch mapping (8 layouts × 16 controls)
Place taps, holds, toggle-holds, a joystick for the left stick or D-pad and a drag zone for the right stick; bind each by pressing a button. Opacity, snap grid, size, per-layout stick capture, layout files, and layouts that follow the app in front. One press gives one touch you placed; nothing runs by itself.
• Android 7+: no PC needed
• Any version: an optional helper for real multi-touch, started with one PC command (adb) or, on rooted phones, with root
Also: pairing help, Demo pad, touch test, Quick Settings tile, widget, compatibility screen.
Why PadBench uses Accessibility
Couch mode, pointer mode and gesture mapping use Android's Accessibility service to read controller presses, see which app is in front, find on-screen buttons and perform the taps and swipes you set up. It only performs the actions you set up. It does not collect, store or send personal data, and it does not read your messages or passwords. You can turn it off anytime.
Fair play
Some online games forbid third-party input tools, remappers or macros in their terms. Using them may get your account restricted. Check each game's rules. PadBench only turns your own presses into touches. It does not aim, automate, or hide itself.
