About Dayling: Baby & Nanny Log

Dayling is a shared logbook for parents and the people who help look after their
children. A nanny logs the day as it happens. A parent opens their phone and sees
it, without having to ask.

WHAT YOU CAN LOG

Naps and play, timed while they happen. Feeds in millilitres. Meals, and how much
of it was actually eaten. Nappies and potty visits. Baths. Medicine, with the
dose. Temperature. And an incident, for the bump nobody wants to have to explain
by text message at six in the evening.

Everything is stamped with the time and with who logged it, so the day reads back
as one record rather than two people's memories of it.

A DAY YOU CAN BOTH SEE

The whole point is that there is one version. No end of day summary written from
memory, no messages to piece together. The nanny logs a nap when it starts and
stops it when it ends, and the parent sees it happen.

Each child has their own profile with their date of birth, a photo, and the notes
a new person should read first. Allergies. What settles them. What they call
things.

HOURS AND PAY, WRITTEN DOWN

A nanny starts a shift when she arrives and ends it when she leaves. Set an
hourly or monthly rate, an overtime rule and a pay day, and Dayling works out
what is owed. A nanny can ask for overtime with a reason attached, and a parent
approves it or does not. Payments get recorded as they are made.

It is the same record for both people, which is the only kind worth having when
it is about money.

THE REST OF THE HOUSEHOLD

A shopping list everyone can add to. A calendar for appointments and days off.
Notifications when a nap has run long or when somebody needs you.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Everything you log belongs to one household and only its members can read it.
That is enforced by the database, not by the app being careful about it: a
request for another household's records is refused at the source.

A parent decides who joins. A nanny cannot invite anyone. Remove somebody and
they lose access immediately.
