About Retro Ping - WiFi Latency Test
Retro Ping Features * When your connection is snappy, you warp into the retro sunset. Big number is WARP (higher = faster). Tiny number is milliseconds. * When latency is trash or it times out, the race freezes and it says BAD. DIAGNOSE pulses so you can find out why. * Diagnose runs a hop ladder (your router, 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, then a name) and tells you if the problem is Wi-Fi, the internet, or DNS — in English, not traceroute hieroglyphs. * History of ping sessions, grouped by which internet you were on. Tap a group to name it HOME or OFFICE. * Settings: pick the ping target, optional Wi-Fi name, opt-in anonymous stats (off until you say so). * New app, built fresh in 2026. Native rewrite. Same listing. Same sunset. Bonus Feature * Retro vaporwave race animation. Still the whole point. Instructions Test Broadcasting Quality Set up Retro Ping next to your computer when you are streaming (Skype, Zoom, Hangouts, Teams, whatever they rebranded it to). Now you will know if it is the right moment to say something legit to impress your boss... or keep your mouth shut because your connection is bad and the audio will cut out and make you look like a dweeb. Test Game Server Connectivity Put your phone into its charging dock on your desk, and keep Retro Ping running while you are playing a game (League of Legends, CS, Fortnite). Now you will know if it's the right moment to come out of that bush, or chill out because your latency is whack. Test Your WiFi Skillz! You can use Retro Ping to test and adjust your Wi-Fi environment. Just connect your phone to your Wi-Fi and walk around your crib with Retro Ping running. Move your antennas and or 14.4k modem and try again until it's wicked fast. If you can load webpages faster than you can drink a Tab, then you're solid. If WARP drops when you stand by the fridge, that's the fridge. Diagnose will tell you if it's actually the internet. Test Your Cell Reception Got 5 status bars, but you cannot load MySpace, your BBS, or any other website? Don't freak out. Walk around watching Retro Ping to see which areas are a buzz kill and which are dope. On cell we skip the router hop and still tell you if the internet or DNS is the villain. How does Retro Ping work? * It pings every 0.25 seconds (woah). * A ping is the round trip time to a remote host and back, in milliseconds. * It will not cause bandwidth issues. A ping uses almost no network resources. * Default target is Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), which is close to you almost anywhere (200+ cities). You can point it at something else in Settings. * If ICMP is blocked, it falls back to TCP/443 and shows · TCP. Your router hop never cheats with TCP, because a lot of routers just don't answer pings — that's ROUTER QUIET, not "Wi-Fi is dead." Video killed the radio star, but don't let it kill the internet star.

What’s new
Version 2.1 · Updated September 23, 2026
Four looks for the race screen. Swipe left or right, or tap the arrows. • SUNSET — the one you know. • CANYON — violet floor, tighter mesh, distant sun. • MIRROR — grid above and below, and a purple sun in the middle of it. • CRUISE — palms, a low car, and tail lights that mean business. The mountains were rebuilt from the 1.x artwork: ridgelines with chords crossing their faces, stacked at depth, so the skyline stops looking like a flat front. The sun sets behind the horizon now instead of resting on top of it. WARP tops out at 10.0, the readout carries its unit, and DIAGNOSE still tells you whether it's your Wi-Fi, the internet, or DNS.
