About SoluteCraft: Lab Calculator
SoluteCraft is a lab solution calculator for chemistry, biology and medical researchers, students and lab technicians who prepare solutions every day.
• Molarity: solve for mass, molecular weight, volume or concentration from the other three
• Dilution (C1V1 = C2V2): find any missing value, with impossible combinations flagged instead of calculated
• Concentrated stock: dilute HCl, H2SO4, HNO3, H3PO4, acetic acid, ammonia, NaOH or H2O2 from the mass percent and density, with a handling reminder (typical catalogue values, so check your bottle's label)
• Percent solutions: % w/v, % v/v and % w/w, with the amount of solute to weigh or measure out
• Mass, volume and concentration in g/L, mg/mL or % w/v, no molecular weight needed
• ppm/ppb converter: one value shown at once in ppm, ppb, percent, permille, mg/kg, µg/g, mg/L and µg/L
• Buffer pH with Henderson-Hasselbalch, plus the acid and base stock volumes for your target volume
• Buffer prep: the mass of reagent and the NaOH or HCl to titrate to your target pH, with the temperature shift of the pKa
• Recipes: PBS, TBS, TE, TAE, TBE, SSC, running buffer and RIPA scaled to your volume
• Serial dilution tables with the transfer and diluent volume for every tube
• 51 common reagents with names in your language, formula and molecular weight, purity correction, your own custom reagents, or type a formula such as CuSO4·5H2O to get its molar mass from IUPAC atomic weights
• Pick your unit in every field, see the formula with your numbers substituted, and keep a history with starred favorites
• Buffers tab: 23 built-in recipes, including PBS, TBS, TE, Tris-HCl, TAE, TBE, HEPES, citrate, phosphate, acetate and SDS-PAGE buffers
• Enter any target volume and every component scales to the exact grams or millilitres
• Amounts switch between g and mg or mL and µL, so trace additions never show as zero
• Search by name or filter by category to find a recipe in seconds
• Add your own lab's formulas; they scale just like the built-in ones
• Star the recipes you use most, and copy a scaled recipe as text
Small results keep at least three significant figures, so nothing quietly rounds to zero.
Calculations are a planning aid. Verify values and results against your reagent labels and protocols before laboratory use.
