About Ekiben: Travel Japanese
Ekiben is your Japanese coach before the trip and your phrase card once you land.
Tell Ekiben when you fly, and it builds a plan around your departure: a 3–10 minute daily bento of review, listening, signs and culture, plus new lessons at your own pace. No hearts to lose and no penalties, just the Japanese you'll actually use.
LEARN BY SITUATION
37 lessons, called stops, on nine themed lines laid out like a Tokyo metro map: essentials, arrival, trains, hotels and onsen, food, shopping, sightseeing, meeting people and getting help. Order ramen the Hakata way, buy a shinkansen ticket, check in to a ryokan. Every stop ends with a short role-play scene.
HEAR WHAT STAFF SAY BACK
Most apps only teach you what to say. Ekiben also trains your ear for what staff ask you, like "Atatamemasu ka?" (Shall I heat it up?) and "Nanmei-sama desu ka?" (How many people?).
CHAT WITH AI STAFF
Have a real conversation with AI characters playing a ramen shop worker, a konbini cashier, a hotel clerk or a friendly local. Speak or type (romaji works too), complete your mission goals and get gentle coaching on every line.
SHOW A CARD, GET A REPLY
In Japan, open any phrase full screen and show it. Staff can tap a reply on your phone, like "It's over there", "Sold out" or "About 10 minutes", or enter a number, and you see what it means. From your departure day, Today turns into quick cards for restaurants, trains, shops, hotels and help. Lessons and cards work offline.
FREE ALLERGY & DIET CARD
Build a polite card in Japanese for food allergies and vegetarian, vegan, halal, no-pork, no-alcohol or gluten-free diets. It spells out hidden ingredients like fish dashi, lard and the wheat in soy sauce, and staff can tap whether a dish contains them.
SIDE TRIPS
• Katakana Menu Decoder: katakana is secret English, so ピザ is pizza!
• Number & Price Ear: catch prices at the register
• Sign Reader: exits, restrooms, cash only and more
COLLECT STATION STAMPS
Finish a stop and press its station stamp into your stamp book. Keep your streak going: days on your trip won't break it.
EKIBEN PASS
Start free with 17 stops, including all essentials and emergency phrases, the first levels of every side trip, the allergy card and your first AI conversation. Ekiben Pass unlocks all 37 stops, every side trip level and AI Talk with daily limits, and removes ads.
Choose an annual subscription, a 60-day Trip Pass or a lifetime purchase. Prices and trial eligibility are shown in the app before purchase. The annual subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Trip Pass and lifetime purchases do not renew automatically. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Google Play.
AI Talk needs an internet connection. Your messages are sent to our server and an AI provider to generate replies, so please don't share personal information.
