Meantime

Meantime is a pause between you and the apps that take your time.

Put an app under a rule and Meantime steps in when you open it: a calm card over the app, in your own words, with a breathing ring that counts down. Not now, and you are back where you were. Open anyway, and you choose how long: one, five or fifteen minutes, or a number you type, with a reason if you asked yourself for one. A hard block sends you home instead.

RULES THAT FIT THE PROBLEM
Pause before it opens. A daily time limit, or a daily number of opens, then the card. Or block it outright. A rule can cover a whole app, one place inside it (Reels, Shorts) or a website, and can run only on the days and hours you set.

FOCUS SESSIONS
Start a session and the apps you chose stay behind the card until it ends. Schedule one for the same hours every day.

YOUR OWN PAUSE SCREEN
Write the words that stop you, or pick from the starters. Choose the room behind the glass, whether the ring breathes, and which number the card shows: your time in that app today, or how often you have opened it. Set a default, or give each rule its own.

WHAT IT ACHIEVED
The dashboard shows today's screen time, your top apps and your daily goal, and counts how often a pause turned you back rather than through. That number is the point.

WHAT IT ASKS FOR
Usage access, to see which app is in front and how long you have used each one today. Display over other apps, for the pause screen. Android's accessibility service, for blocking a place inside an app or a website: it looks only for the place or address you named, and nothing you see or type is collected or sent anywhere. Notification access, only if you hold notifications. Each is explained in the app before it is requested, and you can withdraw any of them in your phone's settings.
