NFPA 10 selection, rating, travel distance, coverage and class K kitchen.
About Fire Extinguisher Calc NFPA 10
Portable fire extinguisher selection and placement per NFPA 10. Minimum rating, number of extinguishers and travel distance for any occupancy and fire class.
WHAT IT CALCULATES
- Extinguisher count from floor area and hazard class
- Class A coverage: 6000 sq ft light, 3000 sq ft ordinary, 4000 sq ft extra hazard
- Hard cap of 11,250 sq ft per extinguisher regardless of its rating
- Minimum ratings from Table 6.2.1.1: 2-A light, 2-A ordinary, 4-A extra hazard
- Travel distance limits: 75 ft Class A, C and D, 30 ft Class B and K
- Class B at 50 ft of travel doubles the rating, exactly as Table 6.3.1.1 allows
- Class B, D and K coverage derived from the travel distance, which is what the standard governs
- Class C handled as A or B after de-energizing, as the standard requires
