About Arcanalia: Tarot Card Scanner
Holding a tarot card and wondering what it means? Point your phone at it. Arcanalia is a tarot card scanner and a complete guide to tarot card meanings, made for people who read with a physical deck, whether you're learning tarot or have read for years.
SCAN A CARD, SEE ITS MEANING
Lay a card on the table, hold your phone flat above it and tap anywhere on the screen. Arcanalia recognises the card and opens its meaning straight away. It also tells upright from reversed, so you see the meaning for the way the card lies. If it's close between cards, it shows you the likely ones and you tap the one you're holding. Scanning is free and unlimited: no credits, no coins, no daily caps.
ALL 78 TAROT CARD MEANINGS, UPRIGHT AND REVERSED
Browse the whole deck: the 22 cards of the Major Arcana and the 56 of the Minor Arcana, across Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles. Every card has an upright and a reversed meaning, with keywords you can take in at a glance and a fuller description below. Search by card name or keyword, swipe from one card to the next, and open the artwork full screen to study its details.
MADE FOR YOUR OWN READINGS
Arcanalia doesn't read the cards for you. You shuffle, draw and lay out your own tarot reading, and it tells you what each card means.
• Daily tarot: draw a card each morning and scan it.
• Spreads: scan a three-card spread or a Celtic Cross one card at a time.
• Learning tarot: guess a card's meaning first, then scan it to check.
YOUR RECENT SCANS
The last ten cards you scanned wait on the home screen, enough for a whole Celtic Cross, so you can come back to them after your reading. Clear them from Settings whenever you like.
THE CLASSIC 1909 DECK
The card art is the original 1909 Waite-Smith deck, illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith and now in the public domain. Arcanalia recognises cards from that classic deck and its reprints. Decks with redrawn artwork, such as Thoth or Marseille decks, aren't supported. For the best scans, use even light, avoid glare and fill the frame with one card.
PRIVATE, AND IT WORKS OFFLINE
• Card meanings and scanning work without an internet connection.
• Your photos are processed on your phone and never uploaded.
• No account and no sign-up.
• No AI readings and no chatbot: just the cards and their meanings.
• Free, with no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
Arcanalia is a reference for reflection and entertainment. It isn't medical, legal, financial or psychological advice.
