Your apps live on the edge of the screen — out of the way until you reach for them.

EdgeCase puts a slim fang on the side of your display. Swipe it inward and a tray of your chosen apps slides out, ready to launch. It works on your home screen, and it works on top of whatever app you happen to be using. No going home, no hunting through a drawer, no folders.

HOW IT WORKS

Pick the apps you want. Drag them into the order you like. Choose which edge the fang sits on and how far down the screen. Then start the service and forget about it — the fang stays where you left it until you swipe.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Choose any installed app as a shortcut, and reorder them by dragging
• Put the fang on the left or right edge, at any height
• Resize the fang and the tray to suit your reach
• Shape the fang itself — thickness, length and angle, top and bottom independently
• Set its colour, or leave it the default stone grey
• Set its opacity, all the way down to invisible if you want the edge kept clean
• Everything is saved, and comes back if you reinstall or move to a new phone

BUILT AROUND ONE IDEA

A launcher should not ask for your attention. EdgeCase has no feed, no suggestions, no notifications, and nothing that learns from you. It does one thing: it puts your apps within reach and then gets out of the way.

The look is Hellenic — carved limestone, fractured obsidian, a serpent coiled around a temple column. Chiselled lettering, dust that scatters when you press a slab, emerald gems lit in the dark.

ABOUT THE PERMISSION

EdgeCase needs Android's "Display over other apps" permission. This is what lets the fang and the tray draw on top of whatever you are using — without it, the app cannot work at all. The app explains this before sending you to the settings screen, and you grant it yourself.

The overlay only draws. It cannot read, record, or transmit anything on the screen beneath it. EdgeCase is not an accessibility service and does not have access to the content of your other apps.

ABOUT YOUR DATA

Your shortcut list, your fang's position and every style setting are saved on your own device. The list of apps installed on your phone is read only to show you the picker, and it is never stored, logged or sent anywhere.

EdgeCase shows a single banner advertisement at the bottom of its settings screens. There is never an ad in the fang, in the tray, or over another app. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which collects an advertising identifier — the full details, and how to reset or delete it, are in the privacy policy.

Where the law requires it, you will be asked for advertising consent, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the Credits screen.
