About BOTCH - Storyteller Edition
FREE. NO ADS. OFFLINE.
Running Blood on the Clocktower puts the whole game inside one person's head. You are holding fifteen secret characters, a seating order, who died last night, who quietly changed sides, and a wake order that shifts every single night - while fifteen people sit and wait on you.
BOTCH is a digital grimoire for that person.
It is built for one Storyteller, on one phone, at a real table. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to download mid-game, and nothing that stops working when the wifi does.
◆ THE NIGHT ORDER, HANDLED
The heart of the app. BOTCH builds each night's wake order for you — the first night's evil roll call, then every character who wakes, in the correct sequence, one card at a time.
• Step through the night with a running call count
• Deaths and spent abilities stay visible for the night they happen, then drop out — the list never re-flows under your finger mid-read
• Filter to optional wakes when you only need the ones that matter
• Characters who act at dawn sort where they belong, not where they were added
The order comes from the character data itself, not from hard-coded special cases, so it stays correct as your roster changes.
◆ THE WHOLE TABLE AT A GLANCE
• Seats in play order, each with its secret character
• Alive and dead, marked in one tap
• Live counters for alive, good and evil, with Travellers counted separately — because the win condition is stated without them
• Change a player's side mid-game for the characters that turn them
• Decoy seats, for when the true count should not be readable over your shoulder
• Tap any seat to see that character's full ability text, large enough to read in low light
◆ EVERY CHARACTER YOU NEED
264 characters ship with the app, offline, with their ability text and night positions:
• Trouble Brewing, Bad Moon Rising and Sects & Violets
• The experimental roster
• Fabled and Loric
• Travellers
• Plus a hand-curated alternative set
Choose which sets you want in Settings; the picker and the character browser follow.
◆ WRITE YOUR OWN
A built-in editor for homebrew characters — name, ability text, type, night orders, once-per-game. Export them to a file to share with another Storyteller, and import theirs. Your own characters are never overwritten by an import.
◆ BUILT FOR A LIVE TABLE
• Keeps the screen awake where you need it
• Save a roster and load it again next session
• An end-of-game chronicle, showing who died on which day
• Detailed in-app help, written for the Storyteller in the middle of a game
• A dark, high-contrast interface designed to be read in the light a game is actually run in
◆ NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE
BOTCH requests no Android permissions at all. It has no network access — the internet permission is removed from the app entirely, so it cannot transmit anything even in principle.
No ads. No analytics. No tracking. No accounts. No third-party services of any kind. Your games, your rosters and your characters stay in the app's private storage on your device, and are deleted when you uninstall it.
Privacy policy: https://anumey.xyz/legal/botch/privacy
◆ UNOFFICIAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL
BOTCH is an unofficial companion app, made by a Storyteller for Storytellers. It is free, and it will stay free.
Blood on the Clocktower is a creation of The Pandemonium Institute. This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Pandemonium Institute, and you will need a copy of the game to use it.
