About Colloquial: Audio Flashcards

Your phone rings like a real incoming call. Answer it, and Colloquial walks you through your vocabulary flashcards out loud. No app to open, no deck to grind through.

HOW IT WORKS
Build a deck of audio flashcards for the language you're learning: record a question, record the answer. Schedule a practice call for whenever suits you. When it's time, your phone rings like any other call. Answer it, and Colloquial walks you through your vocabulary out loud: question, a pause to answer, then the correct answer, one card at a time.

AUDIO-FIRST LANGUAGE PRACTICE
Colloquial is built for listening and speaking practice, not typing. Record your own flashcards in your own voice, or start with one of the built-in language packs. Rate each card "got it" or "needs work" as you go.

A SPACED-REPETITION VOCABULARY BUILDER
Colloquial uses a proven spaced-repetition algorithm (SM-2) to bring vocabulary back right when you're about to forget it. No manual scheduling required.

NO STREAKS, NO GUILT
There's no gamification here: no streaks to protect, no XP, no leaderboards. Miss a call and nothing is lost except the practice itself. It's a language-learning tool, not a habit-tracking app.

PRIVACY
Your recordings are yours. Audio is never used for training or shared with third parties, and is fully deleted if you delete your account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Colloquial is a solo-built, independent project. No ads, no data selling.

What’s new

Version 1.0.7 · Updated October 19, 2026

New: the Library is grouped into Languages, Scripture and more, with search inside each group. Practise now plays a deck as a real call. Decks show how many cards you remember, and a fully remembered deck fades until something is due. Import a deck from CSV, Quizlet text or a Colloquial file, read by your phone's voice, and export a deck or pack to share. Reset your password from a computer at getcolloquial.com/reset-password. Fixed: the microphone closes as soon as a call ends.
