Pause, Please

Empower yourself to waste less time on your most distracting apps

Pause, Please is a different kind of app blocker. Plus, it's free, with no ads, no login, and no data collection.

Strict app blockers act like a digital crash diet: they're frustrating and, ultimately, unsustainable. On the other hand, flimsy warnings or breathing exercises are completely useless against your autopilot muscle memory. You need a thoughtful speed bump that wakes up your analytical brain right when the urge to scroll hits.

How It Works
Set a daily time budget for your most distracting apps. When your time runs out, Pause, Please doesn't just lock you out. It gently intercepts the app you're using and asks you a few simple yet relevant yes/no questions. Don't worry, it's not a test, but a tool to help you check in with yourself. If you work through the reflection, you earn more time. If one of the questions makes you reconsider, Pause, Please will direct you to your home screen, giving you the opportunity to do something you actually want to do.

The built-in reflection is just a starting point:
- Write your own personalized questions to make each check-in feel personal and meaningful to you.
- Customize your schedule to adjust your app budgets to the time of day: different limits for work hours, evenings, or weekends.
- Set personal goals for what to do instead of scrolling when the urge hits.
- Track your usage history over time to see your progress!
- If you want extra accountability, optional settings make it harder to bend your own rules.

Your time is yours. Pause, Please just helps you to recognize your own ability to spend it on what actually matters to you.
